Your weekend cruise departs from Murray Bridge, just 1 hour North of Adelaide. Connecting coach transfers depart from the Central Bus Station in Adelaide or if you prefer to drive, lock up garaging is available for your vehicle. At 7.15pm you are welcomed aboard by the friendly P.S. Proud Mary (Old P.S. Murray Expedition) Crew.
Having settled into your accommodation, you may like to enjoy a pre-dinner drink before a delicious supper is served at 8.45pm. The boat cruises to her overnight mooring point and your Captain introduces the Expedition crew. Night cruising is a feature of all P.S. Proud Mary (Old P.S. Murray Expedition) cruises and this evening the boat's powerful flood lights illuminate the graceful willows and dark waters as you cruise.
This is an excellent opportunity to see the Murray River environment in a different perspective and may allow you to view of some of the nocturnal wildlife. Especially birds such as night herons, owls and coots will be around. Later, you tie up for a night of peace and tranquility in the Australian Bush.
Saturday (breakfast, lunch, dinner)
Enjoy a hearty breakfast while cruising as the boat continues upstream today through some of the most spectacular scenery on the entire River Murray system. The inland lagoons are so immense that in the early riverboat days, Captains could not find true channels. In the early 1900ís riverboat Captainís planted willow trees along the banks to clearly mark the main river channel. Today the willows provide the perfect haven for the prolific bird life. There are some 320 species of bird life in this area and with the aid of binoculars and your well informed guide, you will study at close range the prolific bird life.
The Proud Mary, (Old Murray Expedition) berths in Mannum allowing time for a stroll through this historic town. Enjoy a delicious lunch prepared by the Proud Mary (Old Murray Expedition) chefs as you cruise upstream. Late afternoon your vessel ties along side the towering cliffs and beautiful sandy beaches. Here you will also enjoy a guided cruise led by an ecologist aboard a small boat through the lagoons and inlets of the River Murray, a highlight of your journey.
This evening there is a traditional Australian barbecue on shore followed by Aussie entertainment around a blazing campfire.
Sunday (breakfast, lunch)
This morning there will be time for further exploration of the tranquil Australian bush. Enjoy a hearty breakfast as P.S. Proud Mary (Old P.S. Murray Expedition) cruises downstream, before a mid morning arrival in picturesque Mannum. Here you can board the waiting coach for a tour to Reedy Creek Environmental Park. Your guide will provide you with information to enable you to identify significant rock formations and the abundant native vegetation and bird life. Lunch is a superb buffet with fresh local produce. This afternoon there will be more spectacular scenery before a late afternoon arrival in Murray Bridge at 4.15pm. You will then need to make your way back to Adelaide (either coach transfer or garaging - see options below). The evening is yours free to wonder the city of Adelaide before settling into your included accommodation at the Mercure Grosvernor Hotel for the night.
An early morning pick up from your hotel for a scenic coach journey to Cape Jarvis taking in the picturesque Fleurieu Peninsula with its vineyards, coastal views and rolling hills. On arrival, board the Sea Link Cruise for the 45 minute crossing to Penneshaw on Kangaroo Island. Here you will board your luxury Sea link coach and your local driver/guide will take you on a tour of South Australia's premier nature-based tourism destination. Your first official stop will be Clifford's Honey Farm to enjoy an informative talk by the beekeeper followed by tasting's and an opportunity to sample homemade honey ice-cream and honey beauty products. Then travel onto Vivonne Bay Bistro located on a 260 hectare bush property, for a delicious two course lunch. After lunch visit Seal Bay Conservation Park and enjoy a guided beach walk with a National Park Ranger amongst a breeding colony of wild and rare Australian Sea- lions. Your tour will then visit another amazing wildlife attraction, the fascinating Birds of Prey free-flight demonstration, an interactive and educational display of native Australian birds and raptors. From here you will travel to Kingscote before being transferred to your Kangaroo Island overnight accommodation.
After your morning hotel pick up, your second day of touring begins at Emu Ridge Eucalyptus Distillery, an interesting bush engineered eucalyptus distillery that makes the most of its environmental resources. After testing and tasting the eucalyptus products, travel to the centre of Kangaroo Island to the Kangaroo Island Wildlife Park where you can feed Kangaroo Island kangaroos, have your photograph taken with a koala, and take a guided tour of this wildlife and bird park. Next, travel to Hanson Bay Wildlife Sanctuary to look for Koalas nestled up in the eucalypts, followed by a scrumptious two course lunch at Hanson Bay Visitor Centre & cafe. After lunch travel to the western most part of the Island, Flinders Chase National Park, one of Australia's largest and earliest conservation parks. After a short stop at the Flinders Chase Visitor Centre, travel through the park and enjoy breath-taking views of its unique trees, plants and coastal scenery. You will be taken to the rugged southern coastline for a walk around Remarkable Rocks and Admirals Arch. Remarkable Rocks provide great photographic opportunities and stunning sea views. Admirals Arch boardwalk takes you down a rugged cliff face to reveal this spectacular arch, a natural nursery and safe haven for playful New Zealand fur seals that can be seen swimming and playing in the waves, or resting on the rocks. Return to Penneshaw Cruise Terminal for the return journey to Adelaide, on arrival in Adelaide at 10.40pm you will be dropped off at your included accommodation at the Mercure Grosvernor Hotel for the night.Good to know

Reverse Package Order:
If you prefer, Kangaroo Island can be done first followed by the Murray River Cruise.
All Cabins have a private ensuite, double or twin beds (your choice), air conditioning / heating and tea and coffee facilities.
A coach displaying a large "Proud Mary" sign departs from the Adelaide Central Bus Station, Bay 1, 85 Franklin Street, Adelaide on Friday's at 6.00pm sharp, returning into Adelaide on Sunday at 5.45pm and the cost for a return transfer is: $110 per person.
Secure lock up garaging is available at Murray Bridge for the duration of your cruise. Please make your own way to Sturt Reserve Murray Bridge by 7.00pm and the crew will advise as to the garaging of your vehicle. The cost is $100 per vehicle for the cruise duration.
