About the cruises

The PS Emmylou offers anything from a 1 night gourmet wine and dine cruise to a range of 2, 3 and 4 night cruises along the beautiful Murray River. Cruises departing from and return to Echua. There are 37 golf courses along the Murray River banks and the PS Emmylou provides a great way to try some out, with specialty golf cruise. Cruise along the Murray River and enjoy the great food and atmosphere of the boat while golfing on different courses along the way.

Even if you have cruised the Murray River before, the PS Emmylou and the Upper Murraylands is a unique expereince which you will love.

Echuca is in northern Victoria, along the Murray River forming the border between Victoria and New South Wales. The town of Moama is on the other side of the Murray River, in New South Wales. Paddle steamers depart near the Port of Echuca Discovery Centre. The Echuca provides an opportunity to explore local history, local produce and of course expereince cruising on the Murray River. Echua is a 3 hour drive or train trip from Melbourne. Within an easy trip from many major regional centers such as Mildura, Wagga Wagga, Albury and Canberra. Making the Emmylou accessible for a weekend or longer stay.

After the Amazon and Nile River, the Murray is the third longest navigable river in the world at 2520 kilometers long. There are 4 major dams, 16 weirs and 15 navigable locks long the Murray River system, which provides the domestic water supply for residents along the banks of the Murray River. Back in 1853, the Murray River was a water highway, providing access for half a century. There is an abundance of flora and fauna with the world’s largest red gum forests, Murray cod and ibis rookeries on the banks of the river.

Facilities

On the Emmylou there are just 9 cabins and a maximum of 18 passengers you can be sure of excellent attention and service form our friendly and professional crew. Perfect for a small group that wants to have the boat to themselves. All river journey cruises are fully inclusive of all meals and onshore tours, plus on 3 & 4 night cruises wine & beer is included at dinner service.

Dinning is open air, allowing you to enjoy the expereince of cruising. Aboard PS Emmylou is offered by the onboard Chef who uses fresh local ingredients to create uniquely Australian dishes. The cruise staff provide friendly local hospitality and service. All meals are included and most dietary requirements can be catered for with advance notice. The bar stocks a range of drinks to enjoy with your meal. Along the way you will enjoy riverside campfires, BBQ's, winery visits, world heritage wetlands and cultural experience.

Boatel@Dock

You can now stay on Emmylou at Dock when she is not out on River Journeys. Stay right in the heart of Echuca in one of Emmylou's brand new cabins with private ensuites with breakfast provided the following morning and a 1 hour morning cruise complimentary. You can even help the Engineer fire up the steam engine in the morning and help steer the boat with the Skipper on your 1 hour cruise.

Booked a Boatel (hotel – on a boat when not cruising). This is the perfect pre and post cruise accommodation when docked in Echuca.

About the P.S. Emmylou

The Paddle Steamer Emmylou is one of the most recognisable and iconic paddlesteamers along the Murray River, Echuca. The PS Emmylou is the only wood fired paddlesteamer in the world offering regular overnight cruising. Powered by a beautifully restored 1906 Marshall and Sons steam engine. Fuelled by redgum logs the Emmylou exudes old-world charm whilst offering modern comfort in recently refurbished cabins.

The Emmylou was named after the country singer Emmylou Harris, the PS Emmylou has been host to thousands of people, delighting even her namesake during the late 1980s. Alongside the PS Pevensey, the PS Emmylou starred in the TV series 'All the Rivers Run' renamed for the TV series as the PS Providence. Step back in time and let Emmylou connect you to Australian history, geography, culture and cuisine. You will enjoy riverside campfires, BBQ's, winery visits, world heritage wetlands and cultural experience, all whilst enjoying the sights and sounds of Australia's most famous river, the Murray!

Dining

Dining aboard PS Emmylou is an Australian epicurean affair of delicious table d’hote menus. A Skipper’s Dinner is also included on all 3 & 4-night cruises. Campfires and riverside BBQ are weather permitting. There is only one sitting for all meals and seating is open. Select wine & beer is complimentary at dinner service on all 3 & 4 night cruises.

Facilities

Restaurant, bar, under the stars deck dining, AC 240 volt power, Free Wi-Fi, on-board account for drinks and souvenirs, hair dryers, air conditioning /heating, tea and coffee facilities.

Accommodation

The 9 cabins provide you with a choice of accommodation to suit you and your travel companion as well as your budget. All cabins have been recently refurbished, so they are all lovely.

Cabins have either twin, double or queen beds; individually controlled air conditioning units, shared bathrooms or private en-suite. Hair dryers are provided in each cabin. Cabins are serviced daily. Tea and coffee making facilities are in the bar area.

The main deck is accessible by wheelchair after traversing the crank shaft, assistance will be provided. The Upper Deck is not accessible by wheelchair as passengers are required to climb a staircase of 14 steps which are quite upright.

The vessels electricity is AC 240 volts, 50 cycle (standard electrical power used in Australia). Free Wi-Fi is available in your cabin and around the vessel. Ask the crew for details onboard.

As Emmylou has no laundry, passengers are asked to towels on the racks provided in your cabin to allow them to dry. Towels are changed on request.

Smoking is not permitted on the PS Emmylou.
